Meeting Agenda & Roles:

The Green Bay Yackers' usual meeting agenda is followed as outlined below.  This agenda may be suspended by the membership given Club Speech Contests in the Spring and Fall and for special nights, e.g., holiday party, pick-a-card nights, prepared speech only meetings.  See the Officer Roles page for more details about the duties and responsibilities of the Club Officers.

Roles:

Timer --  Monitors and emphasizes time to everyone.  Each segment of the meeting is timed, and each speech is timed.  The Timer uses a timing device to indicate to the Speaker how long he or she has been talking.

Grammarian -- Introduces new words to members and encourages their use during speaking opportunities and comments on members' use of English during the meeting.  The Grammarian or Ah Counter monitors the usage of crutch words or fillers such as "ah", "um", "you know", "well", etc. or the repeat of a word or phrase such as "I, I said..." or "This means, this means..." and helps the speaker become aware of them.

Jester -- Provides levity to meetings to keep them upbeat and members enthusiastic about attending through jokes and other humorous short stories.  The Jester is best used between speeches to fill in lulls in the meeting while members write up their evaluations of Speakers.

Toaster -- Gives the toast during a dinner meeting.

One Minute Toastmaster -- Speaks on some topic regarding Toastmasters to inform the members and strives to deliver the message within one minute.
